Digital Bedrock, an affordable, secure digital preservation service, is teaming with public media leader WGBH to create a PBCore cataloging tool for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting’s PBCore Development and Training Project. The American Archive of Public Broadcasting, a collaboration between the Library of Congress and WGBH, coordinates a national effort to preserve at-risk public media before its content is lost to posterity and manages digital access to the unique radio and television programming that public stations have aired over the past 60 years.

Audiences might soon watch movies via virtual reality headsets, or some as yet unimagined gadget. But just because mediums perish doesn’t mean messages have to, according to Linda Tadic, Founder and CEO of Digital Bedrock, a managed digital preservation service.
Storing digital content is actually the easy part, she said. “The hard part is managing it. So you want to make sure those bits are OK, that the bits are healthy.”
Digital Bedrock and axle Video Offer Integrated Solution at NAB
Digital Bedrock, an affordable, secure digital preservation service that protects and keeps digital assets evergreen, and axle Video, the leader in radically simple media management software, are announcing that axle has developed an export tool supporting Digital Bedrock’s new service. Priced at $195, it allows “one-click” export from axle 2017 software and the axle Gear software-appliance to Digital Bedrock’s concierge archiving service. From the intuitively designed export tool interface, assets (along with their metadata) can be selected using axle’s Approval button, and batch-exported in a file format that can be read directly by Digital Bedrock, for long-term, managed preservation.
