“Digital Obsolescence Avoidance Systems and Methods” Patent Application Approved

Our patent application for “Digital Obsolescence Avoidance Systems and Methods” was approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office! This is the algorithm underlying our “Digital Object Obsolescence Database” (what we affectionately refer to as “The DOOD”). The DOOD monitors factors impacting obsolescence vulnerabilities in formats, codecs, software, operating systems, hardware, and owning entities for any type of digital content. While it currently is only integrated with Digital Bedrock’s Digital Preservation Application, our intent is to make the data available for integration with other systems, and for one-off searching in an online database. The DOOD provides a mechanism to ensure that our clients’ valued digital content is usable and viable into the future.  (#DBDOOD)
